I'm playing drums for about 10 years already. And I tried MANY different drum machines.
But Beatcraft is SO powerful and easy! It takes me minutes, not hours to compose a sample! I love it and use it all the time!
Very stable, a perfect drum machine!

Can I get other instruments besides drums? I think the program must permit it, but how?

Why not?
You can import any sound you want to use into Beatcraft.
If you have a recording of your boyfriend snoring - why not, its so easy!
